Frederick William Duncombe 1876 - 1949

 

 

Frederick Duncombe was the eldest son born to George and Elizabeth Duncombe, in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire on 17 April 1876. He had 4 sisters and 1 brother.

George was the fourth generation of Duncombe farmers in Marston Moretaine.

Shortly after the birth of his second son George, he moved the family to Warwickshire where he became a farm bailiff

.When he was old enough Frederick worked as a farm labourer. Eventually also becoming a farm bailiff. In 1901 he was working in Kineton, Warwickshire where he met his future wife Emily Louisa Dascombe. She came from Somerset but was working in Kineton as a General Domestic Servant at Pitten Hill Farm. They married in Devon on 3 June 1903 and immediately moved to Llanfyllin in Wales where their two sons were born: Lewis William (my grandfather) 1904 and Reginald George 1906. Thier sister, Marjorie Edith was born in Hindlip in 1910

On the 18 July 1932 Emily died from Heart Failure. Just over four years later in October 1936 Frederick remarried at Eastchurch in Kent to Florence Checkley. After a life of managing farms Frederick retired and later died at Sutton Courtney in Berkshire on 25 January 1949.
