Welcome to my website. Many hours of hard work have gone into researching my family tree and making the information available here. I hope you will find something of interest to you. If you do find a link to your own family please do email me here. Equally, if you find any errors please let me know. What's New | In The Beginning | Duncombe's | Disclaimer | Finally June 2009 Death transcriptions added. May 2009 Marriage transcriptions added. Births added see under BMD transcriptions. Have started work on the marriages. November 2008 Wow, I can't believe it's been a year since I added anything to the site. To be honest I haven't really done much family history at all and certainly nothing since last winter. Still I've added some new information today about my 4 X Great Grandparents, only 8 of them though. The research is starting to get harder and I will need to go out to the record offices but as you can see from the site the ones I need to visit are spread all over the place so I need to get myself organised first. I've started work on adding transcriptions of the Birth, Death & Marriage certificates that I have and hope to put them on the site soon. September 2007 3 X Great Grandparents added to tree. More census data added. June 2007 This is my new website which I have been working on for a few months now. It is about my direct ancestors back to my great, great grandparents. The intention at this stage is to go back on each line as far as I can. I have only included my direct ancestors and their siblings. When I have gone back as far as I can the intention is to work forwards and add as many descendants as I can. I first started researching my family tree when my mother gave me some bits of paper on which my grandfather Lewis Duncombe had made some scribbling's. This was the result of his researches into the family tree. It was a task which he had planned for his retirement but which he never really got around to. The notes he had made were not very clear but in the process of deciphering them I got hooked. That was in about about 2000 and I have been hard at work ever since. I started with the Duncombe's which is my maiden name and continued with the Dascombe's (my great grandmothers family). I had quite a lot of help with the Dascombe's both here in the UK and from distant realtives in Australia and America. So far I have traced the Duncombe line back to a George Duncombe place of birth unknown. He was born about 1743 and married Mary Cripps at Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire in 1778. I think he may have been born in Chichely in Buckinghamshire. There is certainly a family there that fits the bill. But I need to do a few more checks before I can be sure. Although I have tried to be as accurate as possible mistakes inevitably creep in particularly when transcribing the information. Please be aware that not all of the information contained here has been verified as yet. I have used various sources mainly census, BMD certificates and parish registers. Unverified data has only been included where there are other factors which point towards the same conclusions. Many thanks must go to all those people who have been in contact and provided data to help this tree grow. If you don't see your data here yet I am working on it.
